It is known that insomnia is one of the most common symptoms of cancer patients. As showed in relevant investigations, there have been 25%-50% of cancer patients and 60%-70% advanced-stage cancer patients suffering from insomnia with symptom of sleep insufficiency or poor sleep quality. To cancer patients, a poor sleep quality would not only have adverse effects on treatments, but also be detrimental to their physical and mental rehabilitation.

Sleep plays a crucial role in adjustment of body immune systems and maintenance of overall metabolic balances. Long-term insufficient sleep would result in excessive consumption of cancer patients’ physical and mental powers and lowered disease resistance. Because of sleep deprivation, patients might often be faced with speedy condition aggravation. Therefore, it is necessary for cancer patients and doctors to attach greater importance to improving insomnia, while conducting cancer treatments.

It is worth mentioning that traditional Chinese medicine has some unique curative effects on sleep disorders.
