From December 19 to 20, 2016, representatives from six hospitals in Taiwan came to Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital to start a two-day exchange of learning.
Taiwan doctor representatives and Prof. Niu Lizhi
Dr. Niu Lizhi, president of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital, shared the experience and skills of cryosurgical ablation and irreversible electroporation(Nanoknife therapy) in treating cancer with Taiwan doctors. And then they visited the interventional treatment room and operating room, learned facilities related to cryoablation and Nanoknife treatment, tailored service and management.

They also observed the cryosurgical ablation treatment performed by Dr. Niu Lizhi at the site, highly praised Dr. Niu’s accurate and skilled puncture technique.

Dr. Wu Yicheng, director from thoracic surgery department of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, believed that cryosurgical ablation, Nanoknife treatment and service concept at Fuda Cancer Hospital have reached the international advanced level, and hope that more similar exchanges and visits will be made in the further to promote the common improvement of medical and administrative levels across the Taiwan strait.
After observing the cryosurgical ablation at the operating room, Taiwan doctors discussed what they have learned.
Dr. Xu Wenhu, director from thoracic surgery department of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, believed that cryoablation and irreversible electroporation would allow those cancer patients who cannot tolerate or are unwilling to undergo surgery to have prolonged life with relieved pain and improved life quality.
He truly felt that cryoablation and nanoknife treatment in Taiwan is still in its infancy. To reach the international level, doctors in Taiwan could learn more from other hospitals. He said,” I have benefited a lot from this visit, I would like to spread what I’ve learned here to improve the medical care in Taiwan.”
Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital is the president unit of the International Society of Cryosurgery, and Asia-Pacific Cryosurgery Training Center as well. Till now, doctors from Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hongkong and more than 40 hospitals in China mainland have had cryoablation-based training courses at Fuda.
